Environmental science is the field of science that studies the interactions of the physical, chemical, and biological components of the environment and also the relationships and effects of these components with the organisms in the environment. The major function of environmental science includes, how the natural world works, to understand how we as humans interact with the environment, and also to determine how we affect the environment. How humans affect the environment and how to deal with these effects on the environment is a vital aspect of environmental Science. Environment Science is an emerging subject today. This subject represents article 48A and 51A (g) of the Indian Constitution and Supreme Court has already directed various institutions to include this subject in their curriculum in different branches.
Environmental consciousness now a days is the major attention at every sectors without compromising with developmental progress. An environmentalist has multiple job opportunities in every sector with a number of different reputed designations. The sectors of job opportunities include Central Govt., State Govt., Pollution Control Boards, Advisory committees, Forest and Environment department, water resource department, urban planning, NGOs, private organizations, industries, school, colleges, universities as teachers, lecturers, MNCs (national and abroad), consultancies, research centers, prestigious laboratories like NEERI, ICAR, IARI and many more.
The department has two labs for air quality monitoring, analysis vehicular smoke test, water analysis, soil testing, noise monitoring, ecological studies and microbial analysis of various samples and also has facilities of working in PCB, regional Office.
The department has been set up with well equipped modern labs and class rooms. Program is focused of multidisciplinary productive research, teaching and maximum experiment during whole class work. Hands on practical training are provided to students on current techniques in life science and environment science. Faculties have created institute industry interface to produce skilled manpower as per need of industry. Most of the faculty members are from various academic and research organizations of the country.
Environmental Science department encourages the sustainable management, protection restoration of natural resources and biodiversity conservation. Department of Environmental Science is offering following courses
