The programs of Department of Mechanical Engineering are focused on the management of resources, design and development of new processes and innovative products. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers Polytechnic Diploma/ Graduate / and Post Graduate Programs in Advance Production System / Industrial Engineering / Industrial Management / Thermal Engineering / Design Engineering / Renewable Energy System. The department is also engaged in research activities leading to Doctoral Degree.
Mechanical Engineers have a broad spectrum of opportunities in Industrial giants in the field of Energy, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Steel, Automotive, Robotics and Information Technologies. A Mechanical Engineer can work in both private and public companies. Some of the top public sector undertaking (PSUs) companies which hire a large number of mechanical engineers are: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO),Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL). Some of the top private companies that recruit mechanical engineers are Thermax, Larsen & Toubro, Godrej Group, Kirloskar, TATA Group, Jindal Steel, etc.
Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering and is called an evergreen branch because of the steady demand for mechanical engineers from the industries.
